From Manage customers, select Set up tables > Relationship types
Code
Specifies a code that you want to represent the relationship.
Description
Use this field to describe the relationship code. Code descriptions display next to their corresponding code on the Relationship Detail window when you select the lookup icons for the Relationship and Reciprocal fields.
Reciprocal Code
(optional) Enter the code (existing or yet to be defined) for the relationship you want to link to this code to in order to create paired relationship records (for example, you can make MOTHER the reciprocal code for the relationship type DAUGHTER).
Use Title
(optional) Enable if you want the Title and Functional Title fields to display in the Relationship Detail window.
Use Dates
(optional) Enable if you want to display fields for the beginning (From) and ending (Thru) dates of the relationship in the Relationship Detail window. Use this option for time-bound activities such as appointments.
To add a new relationship type
1. Select Customers.
2. From Manage customers, select Set up tables > Relationship types.
3. In the Relationship types window, click New.
4. In the Code field, enter a value that you want to use to represent the relationship.
5. In the Description field, enter information that describes the relationship. The description displays on the Relationship Detail window for this code.
6. (optional) If desired, enter the code for the relationship you want linked to your new relationship type in the Reciprocal Code field.
Note: If you leave the Reciprocal Code field blank for relationship type, two contacts connected with that relationship type will be displayed with that same type.
7. (optional) Enable the Use Title option if you want to display the Title and Functional Title fields in the Relationship Detail window.
8. (optional) Enable the Use Dates option if you want to display fields for beginning (From) and ending (Thru) dates of the relationship in the Relationship Detail window.
9. Click Save.
To edit a relationship type
You can change the Description, Reciprocal Code, and the Use Title or Use Dates options for any of the standard relationship types that are shipped with iMIS, and you can edit any customized relationship types that you created.
1. Select Customers.
2. From Manage customers, select Set up tables > Relationship types.
3. In the Relationship types window, select a code from the list of relationship types.
4. Click Edit.
5. Enter the new information.
6. Click Save to save the changes, or click Cancel to cancel your changes.
To delete a relationship type
1. Select Customers.
2. From Manage customers, select Set up tables > Relationship types.
3. In the Relationship types window, select a code from the list of relationship types.
4. Click Delete. A message displays asking you to confirm the deletion:
□ Click Yes to remove the type.
□ Click No to cancel the deletion.
Note: Before deleting a relationship type, check to be sure that your system does not have any relationships set up that use that relationship type.
